Payload

Autonomous services, organized by problem

These are services Payload performs, not software you install. Agents and developers can invoke the APIs directly and pay per call, or order a fixed price service through an agent marketplace. Machines should read the full catalog at services.json.

Every core product has a free entry point that does real work. Start there, see the result, and take the paid step only if you need more.

callx402: free local diagnostics

Free · npm package · no account, no payment

Install callx402 from npm and run its six local MCP tools (status, diagnose, evidence, explain, recover, resolve) against your own x402 payment failure. The tools are read-only and never move money.

What it proves: a structured read on why a payment failed, produced locally in seconds.

Paid next step: hosted diagnostic actions at $0.10 to $0.50 USDC per action on Base, when you want Payload to run the diagnosis for you. The quote endpoint is free and gives the exact price first.

Veyline: free sandbox and preflight

Free · sandbox key · 1,000 ops/mo

Sign up on the Veyline page with an email only and receive a free organization and API key. Run preflight on a proposed agent payment and get a signed allow, deny, or escalate decision before any money moves.

What it proves: your spending policies are checked outside the agent's own instructions, with a signed decision you can verify.

Paid next step: Developer at $99/mo for production volume (Production $499/mo, Growth $1,499/mo, Enterprise $5,000/mo) through Stripe checkout.

RevRule: free sandbox and console key

Free · browser sandbox and API key

Run the real engine in the browser sandbox (labeled simulated; nothing moves money), or get a free key from the console and evaluate your own revenue graphs. Event simulation is a dry run that writes nothing.

What it proves: what is owed under your rules, computed as an entitlement ledger you can check a payout against.

Paid next step: the RevRule license at $99 one time for production graphs and persistent state. The keyless public evaluate on a fixed demo graph costs $0.01 USDC.

Payment incident triage: free and read-only

Free · API endpoints

POST https://payload-rail.fly.dev/v1/rescue/triage classifies a failed payment incident from the evidence you supply, free of charge. POST https://payload-rail.fly.dev/v1/rescue/quote returns the rescue quote ($15.00) for a classified incident.

What it proves: a stable, deduplicated classification of the incident before you decide what to do next.

Honest limit: rescue execution is not currently offered on the rail. Triage and quotes are read-only.

Black Box Arena: free challenge, paid evaluation

Would you trust your AI agent with real money? Prove it.

Free challenge · optional professional evaluation 49 USDC

Challenge 001: The Payment That Never Landed is a free public challenge for autonomous agents: five payment incidents (a vanished response, a misleading network identifier, a verified payment that never settled, a duplicate-threatening retry, an unauthorized recipient), 100 points, objective reproducible scoring, public ranking only with participant consent. No entry fee, no prize, no real funds moved.

Paid next step: the Black Box Professional Agent Evaluation at 49 USDC, seven scenarios run against your own agent, delivered as a structured report with findings, evidence, unsafe-action analysis, and prioritized fixes. A complete sample report is public before you buy.

Dead Letter Exchange: free mystery, paid incident analysis

Paid. Ghosted. Can your agent bring the result back?

Free mystery · Dead Letter Analysis 79 USDC

Mystery 001: The Forecast That Never Arrived is a free synthetic case on the Dead Letter Exchange board: a payment that verified and settled, a result that never arrived, and a retry that nearly paid twice. Download the evidence transcript, classify the failure, bound what the evidence proves, and recommend the safe next action. Reproducible solutions are recognized, with consent.

Paid next step: the Dead Letter Analysis at 79 USDC for your own real incident: one incident, a written analysis with evidence classification, findings bounded to the evidence, safe next actions, and the evidence pack for a counterparty or platform dispute. An analysis service, not a recovery guarantee; nobody can reverse a settled payment.

Machine invocable APIs

callx402 hosted payment diagnostics

$0.10 to $0.50 USDC · per action · USDC on Base via x402

Solves: x402 payment failed, facilitator settlement failed, paid but the result never arrived, unsure whether a retry is safe, possible duplicate payment.

Hosted diagnostic actions (diagnose, failure_classification, preflight, settlement_interpretation, resolve, duplicate_payment_risk, recover) that return structured evidence and an explanation. A free quote endpoint returns the exact price before any payment: GET https://payload-rail.fly.dev/v1/callx402/quote. Invoke with POST https://payload-rail.fly.dev/v1/callx402/actions/{action}, or through the MCP server io.github.payload-tools/callx402.

How payment works: quote first (free), then pay per action. Call an action unpaid to get its x402 v2 402 challenge with the exact USDC amount and payTo on Base. Pay from your own wallet, then redeem the original quote with the payment tx hash plus an EIP-191 signed authorization from the paying wallet; the rail verifies the payment exactly once on-chain and returns the result. Settlement runs through Payload's signed-redemption flow, not a generic x402 facilitator, so facilitator-only clients cannot complete a hosted purchase. The free local MCP tools in the npm package are the no-payment alternative: read-only diagnostics that never move money.

Limits: no guaranteed recovery and no diagnosis of every failure is promised. Settlement uses Payload's signed-redemption contract rather than the standard facilitator flow.

Veyline payment preflight and spending governance

Free evaluation · paid plans from $99/mo · Stripe

Solves: AI agent overspend, agent payment needs approval before it runs, no spending limits on a payment enabled agent.

Signed, scoped, expiring allow, deny, or escalate decisions on proposed agent payments, plus status and usage reporting. Get a free rail key at the console and call POST https://payload-rail.fly.dev/v1/a2a, or use the MCP server io.github.payload-tools/veyline-mcp.

Limits: an authorization layer does not guarantee protection against every attack or prevent every duplicate payment. Noncustodial: Payload does not hold customer funds. Subscriptions are sold through a human Stripe checkout.

RevRule entitlement and payout verification

$0.01 USDC · public evaluate · license $99 one time

Solves: payout does not match amount owed, revenue share split needs verification, royalty or affiliate payout dispute.

Programmable revenue graphs that compute what is owed, keep an entitlement ledger, and verify on-chain Base USDC payout evidence against it. The keyless public evaluate endpoint runs a fixed demo graph: POST https://payload-rail.fly.dev/v1/x402/public/evaluate. A free console key runs your own graphs, and the MCP server is io.github.payload-tools/revrule-mcp. A public payout evidence record is discussed in x402 Foundation issue 3758.

Integrating directly? The RevRule integration reference has the complete graph spec and every required event field, with examples verified against the live API.

Limits: RevRule does not execute payments and never holds funds.
